Welcome to Shoot the Book! L.A. organized by the French Embassy's Cultural Services, the Institut français, and the SCELF. This year marks the 6th US installment of our program. Started in 2014, Shoot the Book! has been geared towards providing French Publishers with a platform to present books proven to have high potential for the big screen. It is our goal to facilitate the necessary exposure of these works to Hollywood’s film and TV industry in hopes of connecting great minds that will undoubtedly collaborate for great film adaptations.

The theme of this year’s event is centralized around the heroine, in her variety of forms, uplifting the importance of creating amazing films placing women at the forefront. A jury of U.S. film industry professionals has selected books from five major French publishing houses whose film rights managers will all be present at the event.

Due to the current state of the world, Shoot the Book! Los Angeles 2020 will take place online from November 16 to 20. We see it as being very important to adapt with the times and hope that this new format may even be more productive and beneficial to a wider audience than before. The program promotes conversations between American professionals and French publishers about the current possibilities for screen adaptations and an online BtoB market for the six featured titles.

For this first online edition, the program is accessible to all industry professionals across the US. Thank you for playing a very important role and being so flexible as to offer your time, special talents, and services for Shoot the Book! 2020.
